Abbey, Joshua Joshua Abbey is the Program Director of the Las Vegas Jewish Film Festival, the longest running, most popular film festival in Nevada. He has served as Chairman of the City of Las Vegas Arts Commission and as a gubernatorial appointee to the Nevada Arts Council. Mr. Abbey has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater from University of Nevada, Las Vegas and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Producing from the American Film Institute in Hollywood, California. He has an extensive background in theatre and has produced theatre and film projects in Las Vegas, New York City, Los Angeles and Switzerland. Instructor Detailed View
Akselrad, Rabbi Sanford Rabbi Sanford Akselrad has served as the spiritual leader of Congregation Ner Tamid since coming to Las Vegas in 1988. Rabbi Akselrad was ordained from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. Instructor Detailed View
Aronovich, Shoni Shoni Aronovich was born in Tel Aviv, Israel. After completing his military service as a lieutenant in the IDF Education Department, Shoni attended Tel Aviv University (TAU) to pursue his BA and BEd where he was enrolled in a special program which trained talented students as teachers of Jewish Studies. After earning his degree, Shoni joined the staff of an all-digital school in Tel Aviv, Tichonet, as a teacher of Jewish Studies. In 2013, Shoni moved to Las Vegas to join the Adelson Educational Campus where he teaches Upper and Middle School Jewish Studies. Instructor Detailed View
Blumenfeld, Stewart Stewart Blumenfeld holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in medical microbiology and a doctorate in public health. He has served on faculties at UCLA , the University of Ghana Medical School, and Johns Hopkins University and has worked to improve the accessibility and effectiveness of healthcare services in many countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America, Oceania, and Europe. His resumé shows nearly one hundred published papers, monographs, book chapters, and professional presentations. He is a past president of Congregation Ner Tamid and currently serves on the board of the Jewish Federation. Stewart and Sharna have visited Israel twenty-two times. Instructor Detailed View
Braunstein, Dvora Dvora Braunstein was born in Italy during Israel’s War of Independence and moved to Israel in 1949. She graduated from Gordon College of Education with her teaching degree and spent the next ten years as an elementary and middle school teacher. During this time she also studied History and Political Science at the University of Haifa and was on track for a master’s degree, but shifted her focus and received a Master’s in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from Swinburne Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Australia. With her new focus on business, Braunstein began working on international marketing campaigns and represented SodaStream for many years. She currently works with fashion designers all over the world with her main focus on Israeli and European clientele. Instructor Detailed View
Brog, David DAVID BROG, a graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Law School, is the executive director of the Maccabee Task Force and was the founding executive director of Christians United for Israel. He served as chief of staff to Senator Arlen Specter and staff director of the Senate Judiciary Committee. He also worked as an executive at America Online and practiced corporate law in both Israel and the United States. Cohen, Rabbi Malcolm Rabbi Malcolm Cohen is a native of London, England. Trained there, in Israel and New York, he loves being a community builder. A prominent leadership role in his Zionist youth movement, community work on housing projects and a role as the first 20s/30s outreach worker for the U.K. Reform Movement are some of his previous postings. Steeped in traditional Jewish texts, Rabbi Cohen is passionate about relating tradition to real life. Didio, Ronit Ronit Didio has been a Hebrew educator at Las Vegas School for the past 27 years. She has taught at several Jewish day schools in the Las Vegas area and around the country. In 2001, she received the Harold Grinspoon Award for Excellence. She looks forward to continuing her career as an educator in Las Vegas. Instructor Detailed View
Dubin, Susan Susan Dubin is the library consultant to the Sperling Kronberg Mack Holocaust Resource Center located in Las Vegas. As a career teacher and librarian, Susan served as international president of the Association of Jewish Libraries. Working as a Judaic librarian led her to an interest in women in the Bible. Her two published books, Kol Isha:Voice of the Woman and The Book of Ruth Retold in Poetry are volumes of poetry based on the Bible and Midrash. Eisenberg, M.D., Danny Danny Eisenberg, M.D. was born in Rehovot, Israel. He served in the IDF as a medic and was wounded during skirmishes with the PLO. He graduated from Jerusalem’s Hadassah Hospital School of Medicine, specializing in Radiology. Danny completed a Fellowship at Vanderbilt University and since then, has practiced as a Radiologist. He is a Board Member of the Israeli American Council and actively involved in current events. Danny’s extensive knowledge and understanding of the history of the Middle East has made him a sought-after lecturer at community events and educational programs. Instructor Detailed View
